Have you ever walked past individuals, who for one reason or another, for a time, have found themselves homeless and living on the streets? More often than not, when you look at them, they not only look directly into your eyes but they respond with smiles. They are homeless, ungroomed, begging and alone; what do they possibly have to smile about? Sometimes the most beautiful smiles come from unexpected places; from the marginalized, ill-treated or those subjugated and burdened by severe poverty.
In many of the countries of Eastern Europe, there are no social or financial safety nets in place for those who find themselves alone, hungry, cold or homeless. These conditions are no respecter of persons; the elderly and children included. Can you imagine stepping out of a supply van in mid February, filled with humanitarian aide, dressed in winter boots, warm coats, gloves and hats, and coming face-to-face with a small child wearing nothing but a torn t-shirt, no shoes, no pants or winter gear, nothing? Yet, there was no curved lip of pain to greet us, rather there was a shivering, arms folded to stay warm, little smile framed by two little red cheeks. It was the most beautiful smile in the word.

As Christmas approaches, we can help make a big difference with your help in the life of a child. For $51.00 you can purchase a Children’s Bundle which includes; snacks for school, school supplies and new socks/boots and shoes. In return, we promise, you will receive the most beautiful smiles in the world.

While recently shopping in a local retail mall, there was a sign in a shop that read “smiles are free,” which was quite striking considering none of the employees looked very happy, nor did they smile. However, many children in Eastern Europe do find themselves without the resources to obtain even the bare essentials like socks, shoes and school supplies.

Winter is upon Eastern Europe, for the month of November, Eurovangelism is focussing upon these children and asking you to assist us in bringing a smile to the face of children by purchasing materials for school club supplies, new socks and new shoes. For just $51.00 you can make a big difference in the life of a child buy purchasing a Children’s Bundle.

Director’s Message

“The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.”

Elie Wiesel

Our idea of “us” as opposed to “them,” is by default, exclusionary, but as we expand that idea, we open ourselves to embracing others in love as image bearers of God. Elie Wiesel, the Romanian born, holocaust survivor and professor, referred to as ‘a messenger to mankind’, sums this idea up well when he said, “Human suffering  anywhere concerns men and women everywhere.”   Eurovangelism’s mission is to help relieve suffering by serving the poor, the needy and the marginalized in the often forgotten fields of Eastern Europe and Russia.  This year, we are excited to be celebrating our Fortieth Anniversary. There have been many changes in Eastern Europe and Russia since our beginning in 1976. The cold war is long over and communism has also ceased to be. However, these Eastern European countries and Russia, particularly, are always in flux. Geo-Political movements bring to bear many challenges for our faithful ministry     Partners in these Nations. We have witnessed their courage, in challenging circumstances; they faithfully feed the hungry, clothe the naked, care for the suffering and   dying, love the orphans and advocate on the behalf of the marginalized. These faithful workers are the voice for those who have suffered many injustices, speaking dignity into dark places.

We would be honoured beyond measure, if you would join us for one of our Anniversary events. We are thrilled to host Marinela Murg from Emanuel Hospice in Oradea,     Romania as our speaker at our May Banquets. As well, there will be a Variety Dinner Theatre in the autumn featuring the talents of many. We are above all, very pleased to share with you our special Fortieth Anniversary gift calendars. These calendars feature black and white photographs from our archives depicting the early years of the mission. Please telephone our office to reserve your copy and contribute to help relieve sorrow, grief and pain. Will you join us on the journey to expand our circles of   compassion, to include an ever expanding meaning of us?

 St. Francis’ Prayer

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace.

Where there is hate, may I bring love;

Where offense, may I bring pardon;

May I bring union in place of discord;

Truth, replacing error;

Faith, where once there was doubt;

Hope, for despair;

Light, where was darkness;

Joy to replace sadness…

Urgent Appeal

Every day, Eurovangelism thanks God for your prayers and practical generous support. The needs of the marginalized, widows, children and the poor can be overwhelming. With little to no safety nets in place to assist these dear ones, many fall between the cracks. There presently is a great need and our desire is to compassionately help alleviate these immediate needs. It is our prayer that we can display the love of God in showing practical compassion.

We pause after a busy Easter season to ask for your help. Your support is much needed at this moment, as we receive many heart-breaking requests. As well, the office that Eurovangelism has been blessed to rent for many years has been sold and we will be moving very shortly with many unexpected expenses involved.

We do realize that there are many needs in our very own communities and that you have been so very faithful to the often-forgotten harvest field of Eastern Europe; but may we ask for your assistance by making a $100 donation to help meet these needs?  Please call the office toll-free at 1-866-630-6301 or donate on-line at

May God continue to bless you and keep you.
